Snow Jam. It was exclusive..?

Much credit goes out to Steph who took most of the Sloan pictures and the 'artistic' stadium shot

Snow Jam: Day One
(Pictures inserted by me)

Okay, so we got off school, I headed home and sat around waiting for Merrit. For what seemed like an eternity. Finally, she phoned and we were soon off. After getting gross bright orange wrist bands, we were transported into a world.

One of pavement and beer splashed canvass, with people handing out free stuff everywhere. It was absolutely commercial times two hundred. It was against everything I am, but Sloan... it was so tempting.

So, we hunted down Chris, cooking smokies and what not in his uniform. Looking totally unsexy [he'll never pick up chicks with this job] and then wandered around. We watched a band, The Full Nine, with some nine year old prepubescent teeny-bopper rejects in front of us. One had a pink back pack with 'Blink 182 ROX' on it and the other had a paperclip through her ear. With butchy short hair. They were with some other girl, I think. So anyway, I was totally not digging the young chix vibe and after the Full Nine, it was announced that Swollen Members were coming on.

Me- God, I hate Swollen Members
Paperclip Earring Girl- You hate Swollen Members?
Me- Yes

And we left the pit.

After that, I can't remember what we did. I remember we got Sloan's autographs. They were broken, dejected men it seemed. Head down, efficient signing. No chit-chat, no personal talk... the Last one, Mike, gave me a smile and a 'thanks', though. Nice of him.

[Sloan] Chris ("Mike")

Afterwards, we were in the pit, waiting for them. It was raining. Cold, rain. But only drizzle. I finally got to the front, metal crushing my ribs, a huge security guy in front of me, with a hairy chest. I wrapped a hand around the metal, determined to stay up front. Thanks to the guy beside me, he kept one of my arms warm. Talk about body heat.

[Sloan] Jay

So, we waited. And waited. I had the camera out. Waited some more. It was raining hard now. My glasses were so wet, I couldn't see. The security guard waiting. I was determined to stay in my spot. Then, Sloan came on. An all encompassing urge to jump the bars came across me. Not for long. The security guard's hairy chest kept getting in my face. I kept taking picture, barely able to see the stage through my water-logged specs.

[Sloan] Patrick

Then, it was over. Surprisingly enough, the wettest part on me was my ASS. We walked to the Chapters lot, with Chris, waited there for our ride. I went home. Walked to 7-11, got a Slurpee. Curled up in Sweats, battered and bruised and waited for: Day 2.

Day 2

It was fairly uneventful. We went to the airport. I sat and thought that I should pretend I was waiting for someone. Some guy said hello to Merrit and I.

Then, we got to the stadium. It was hot out and I was fully decked in my new Curious George shirt and a pair of jeans. We found Chris... then, went and watched some dude BMX for a little.

Suddenly, Robin Black and the IRS was onstage. With his dyed hair and leather pants, and rather explicit stage persona, I was pumped. Rocking out was my thang that day, so I rocked out indeed. Then, much to Merrit's dismay, I bought his CD. What? I was supporting him.

So, anyway, we stood in line to get his autograph for an hour and he was a total sweetheart. He gave me two hugs and two kisses, signed my CD, "I rocked Steph in Half", and then sighed my tankini bra. Which is now, "Robin Black Bra". So, anyway, he took the time just to total chat me up and I was like, "Robin Black is so cool".

Then, we went to the Power 97 place.

Me- Uh, hi, I was wondering, could we have a sticker?
DJ- Actually, we're all out... but hang on, I'll get you a t-shirt
Me [to other woman]- Is she on air?
Other woman- Not right now
Me[thinking]- Well, duh...
DJ- Here you girls go.
DJ Produces TWO Snow Jam shirts.

So, thanks to Chris, who asked us to get him a sticker. Anyway, I stuck my shit in Merrit's bag and we were off again, waiting in the mosh pit, which was already heating up. The sky ahead said 'rain' the air around said, 'humid'.

Then, people start chanting 'Where the Fuck is Gob!' and doing the fist thing.

I totally went with it because I love to cuss. Anyway, Gob comes out and the thrashing starts. I was getting tossed around and the rain wouldn't come. I swear, I can jump higher now, I have to... to get air in pits. So I finally shoved my way out and got air, went into the bathroom, splashed myself with water, then tucked my glasses into my purse.

I slammed back into the pit, finally finding Merrit, saying something to her that she didn't here, but grabbing her and shoving back out. I love doing that, by the way.

We were outside. The clouds still hung in the air, threatening rain, but not... so we walked to Subway, quite bruised from that and sat around in the Yellowy florescence. Some guys walked in, drenched in sweat, obviously from the pit.

So, I got home safe... fairly, then got pissed when I noticed blood on the back of my WHITE shirt. Then, I got rid of that fucking orange wristband.
